This course is for advisers who need more detail on how Universal Credit can help claimants who rent or who have a mortgage to pay. Delegates will need to understand the basics of Universal Credit. Advisers will gain a more in-depth understanding of how support for rent and mortgage interest can be provided via Universal Credit, at what level and any restrictions that may be in place. This half day workshop is for advisers who already have experience in using the Quick Benefits calculator. The hands-on workshop will build on the skills of the advisers to increase their knowledge of the software by working though more complex benefit entitlement calculations.
This hands-on half day training is for advisers who have a good knowledge of the welfare benefit system and who have access to the software but have not had the opportunity or time to get to know their way around it.
This course is for generalist advisers and advice session supervisors. You will have attended the Housing Foundation course (HFC), or gained the learning objective for HFC in some other way. The aim is to develop participants’ understanding of private rented sector assured shorthold tenancies and key factors to be aware of.

This course is for experienced generalist advisers and advice session supervisors, who have a good basic knowledge of housing. This course is not for trainee advisers or housing specialists.
You will have attended the Housing Foundation Course (HFC), or gained the learning objectives for HFC in some other way, and you will have recent experience of housing enquiries.
This course will be useful to advice and non-advice staff within bureaux. Anyone who wants to improve communication with people with challenging behaviour as a result of mental health issues should attend this course.
