If you work with low-income households or vulnerable clients you will know that the cost of living is the most urgent issue now, and for the foreseeable future. With our partners, Citizens Advice in Surrey and Surrey County Council we are getting organisations to think about benefits advice as one possible solution to being able to afford essential costs. Time and time again households are not claiming their full entitlement and the overall £total of unclaimed benefits is staggering. This e-training is designed to help Surrey staff and volunteers to have a better understanding of when and how to make a good referral for benefits advice. Its aim is for delegates to understand the basics of the benefit system, to know what to do if their client or service user requires a benefit check or believes a benefit award or decision is incorrect, and to help prepare the client for an interview with an advice service. It is not a course about the details of the benefit system. This is a free course.
