Personal Independence Payment – the importance of being PIP

Who is this course for?

This course is for experienced advisers with an understanding of the benefit system as a whole including supervisors. It will suit those who are looking for an overall understanding of the interaction of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) with other benefits including Universal Credit and the other passporting advantages a PIP award can provide. A similar course was run in March 2023 under the title PIP an overview.

Aims

This course will provide advisers and their supervisors with a comprehensive overview of PIP, its advantages for claimants, suggestions for how advisers can improve the chances of an award, and issues to look out for. This course does not discuss in detail specific PIP descriptors.

Objectives

By the end of this course delegates should:

  • The structure of the benefit
  • The benefits of a PIP award
  • Who should consider a PIP claim
  • Issues to consider during the claiming and appeals process

A complete set of slides will be provided at the end of the course.
