Who is this course for?

This course is for experienced advisers with a thorough understanding of Universal Credit who are advising UC claimants who may be affected by the surplus earnings rule.

Aims

This two-hour e-learning module will provide advisers with an understanding of the surplus earnings rule. It will particularly focus on understanding the impact payments under the self-employment income support scheme can have on Universal Credit awards.

Objectives

At the end of this course you will:

• Recognise when the surplus earnings rules come into play
• Understand how to calculate the UC award in Assessment Periods affected
• Understand the steps UC claimants need to take to preserve their UC entitlement
