Who is this course for?

This course is for advisers who advise, or may advise, clients on Universal Credit.

Aims

The Transitional Severe Disability Premium (TSDP) amount is designed to reduce the financial impact of a move to UC for claimants eligible for the Severe Disability Premium (SDP) in their legacy means tested benefits. The aim of this course is to identify claimants who may be able to claim the TSDP amount, and explain the routes claimants in specific circumstances may need to follow for this to be included in the UC award. The course will also cover circumstances that will reduce or end this transitional protection.

Objectives

At the end of this course delegates should have a better understanding of:

  • Who is eligible for a TSDP amount
  • What SDP (or potential SDP) claimants need to do before claiming UC
  • How the TSDP amount evolves in ongoing UC claims
  • How the transitional protection erodes and what brings it to an end
