Who is this course for?

This hands-on e-learning training using Zoom is for advisers who already have considerable experience in using the Quick Benefit Calculator and who know their way around the benefit system. You will need access to a copy of the latest version of QBC in order to complete the case studies.

Aims

To help the adviser to achieve a better understanding of what the calculator can help them to do.

Objectives

  • Understand how to make the most of the software by way of online training sessions.
  • To have time to work through selected examples involving changes of circumstances and exploring the impact on benefit entitlements.
  • To complete comparison between legacy benefits and Universal Credit calculations.
  • Understand how to provide a comprehensive better off calculation.

Course Structure

The course consists of 2 training sessions a week apart and will build on the skills of the advisers to increase their knowledge of the software by working though more complex benefit entitlement calculations. The first session of 2 hours will be a demonstration of what  you can do and how to do it (with the option for delegates being able to try out what they have been shown at certain points within the session). At the end of the first session the delegates will be emailed some case studies for them to work through, practicing their knowledge and building up their skills before the second session a week later. The second session of 1 hour will review how the delegates got on with the case studies with the opportunity to discuss any questions they have.
