Quick Benefits Calculator – Advanced (2 part course)

Who is this course for?

This online training is for advisers who already have good experience in using the Quick Benefit calculator and who know their way around the benefit system. There will be two sessions over two days, one week apart, and will build on the skills of the advisers to increase their knowledge of the software by working though more complex benefit entitlement calculations. There will be the opportunity to put the learning from the first session into practice by way of case studies to complete prior to these being reviewed at the second session.

Delegates will need access to the current version of the calculator for the sessions.

Aims

To help the adviser to achieve a better understanding of what the calculator can help them to do.

Objectives 

• Understand how to make the most of the software by way of online training sessions.
• To have time to work through selected examples involving changes of circumstances and exploring the impact on benefit entitlements.
• To complete changes of circumstances calculations that may impact on Universal Credit claims and awards
• Understand how to provide a comprehensive better off calculation.

Course Structure

The course consists of 2 training sessions a week apart.

The first session of 2 hours will be a demonstration of what you can do and how to do it. Having access to the software during the presentations can be useful, but it is not essential.  At the end of the first session the delegates will be sent some case studies to work through, practicing their knowledge and building up their skills before the second session a week later.

Delegates will need access to the software between sessions 1 and 2 to complete the case studies.

The second session, 90 minutes, will be used to go through the case studies together using QB calculator with the opportunity to discuss any questions that may have arisen.
