Who is this course for?

This course is for advisers who are familiar with the software for completing benefit calculations and who have a good knowledge of the welfare benefit system but may not completely understand how Tax Credit awards are calculated or how to input client’s financial data.

Aims

To enable advisers to have a better understanding of Tax Credit entitlement, be more familiar with the Tax Credit screens and options that can be selected within QBC, and also be better able to explain how a client’s award has been calculated.

Objectives

This course will help advisers to understand:

  • Who is still entitled to Tax Credits.
  • How Child and Working Tax Credits are calculated.
  • What information is necessary so that QBC can calculate Tax Credits awards.
  • How changes of income can affect awards and how to add income and make adjustment to the work sheets.
  • When an award will end .
  • The similarities and differences between TC and UC.

Course Structure

This 2½ hour training session will comprise a PowerPoint presentation going through the Tax Credits criteria, identifying which elements can be awarded and when. We will be looking at the impact of reduced or increased in-year income and what options might be available at the end of entitlement. We will then provide an online practical demonstration showing the Tax Credit screens.

Delegates will need access to the Quick Benefits Calculator software during the training.

A complete set of slides of the presentation will be provided at the end of the course.
