Who is this course for?

This e-learning introduction to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is for experienced advisers and their supervisors who are looking for an overall understanding of this benefit.   

Aims

This course will provide advisers and their supervisors with a comprehensive overview of PIP, its advantages for claimants, suggestions for how advisers can improve the chances of an award, and issues to look out for. This course does not discuss in detail specific PIP descriptors. SWRU are developing separate courses covering the descriptors in greater detail in the context of the PIP2 form and the mobility descriptors.

Objectives

By the end of this course delegates will have a greater understanding of:

  • The structure of the benefit 
  • The basic rules of entitlement 
  • The benefits of a PIP award
  • Who should consider a PIP claim 
  • What advisers can do to improve the chances of success for claimants 
  • Issues to consider during the claiming and appeals process
