Who is the course for?

Advisers who support people currently unable to work due to illness or disability, and who will be advising on ESA and Universal Credit.

Aims

As Universal Credit rolls out “Limited Capability for Work” will be the test for entitlement if claimants are unable to work due to illness or disability. This course will provide what advisers need to know about the test and securing and keeping benefits for clients unable to work.

Objectives

At the end of the course delegates will have a good understanding of:

  • Contributory-based ESA rules of entitlement
  • The Work Capability Assessment test for ESA and Universal Credit
  • What Claimant Commitment requirements may apply to someone who has Limited Capability for Work (LCW)
  • What to do if you have a negative decision on LCW and options for challenge
