Who is this course for?

This e-learning course is for experienced local Citizens Advice advisers who sometimes deal with complex benefit queries concerning EEA nationals. You will need a broad understanding of the social security benefit system and preferably have some experience of the EU freedom of movement rules. This course does not look at benefit issues concerning non-EU nationals.

Aims

The course will provide advisers with an understanding of the issues that may be relevant when advising EEA nationals. It will cover the relevance of the EU settlement scheme to continued entitlement to Universal Credit.

Objectives

At the end of this course you will:

  • Understand how the immigration status of EEA nationals and their family members may change as a result of Brexit
  • Understand how the changes might affect entitlement to Universal Credit
  • Understand the importance of applying to the EU settlement scheme
