Who is this course for?

This e-learning course is for experienced LCA advisers who sometimes deal with complex benefit queries concerning EEA nationals. You will need a broad understanding of the social security benefit system. You will preferably have some experience of the EU freedom of movement rules. This course does not look at benefit issues concerning non-EU nationals.

Aims

This course will provide advisers with an understanding of the issues that may be relevant when advising EEA nationals. It will cover the relevance of the EU settlement scheme to continued entitlement to Universal Credit.

Objectives

At the end of this course you will understand:

  • How the immigration status of EEA nationals and their family members has changed as a result of Brexit
  • How the changes might affect entitlement to Universal Credit, particularly for those with pre-settled status and those who have not yet applied to the settlement scheme
  • The importance of applying to the EU settlement scheme
